Coach Announcements - July 2019

We are thrilled to announce the addition of seven new coaches to the platform. Each coach brings great individual value, from AFL experience, genuine passion for coaching, new training techniques and insight into what it takes to reach your full potential. These coaches are located and available accross four different states (Victoria, Tasmania, Queensland & Western Australia).


Melbourne, VIC



Alex Johnson

Alex grew up in Melbourne (Xavier College graduate), he played at the highest level with the Sydney Swans in the AFL. Despite knee injuries hampering his ability to play, Alex managed 47 senior games at the Swans, including the 2012 AFL Premiership.

During his 8 seasons, he gained valuable coaching experience with the Swans NEAFL side, where his passion for development coaching grew. Alex is a current player/coach at the Northern Blues in the VFL and is available for private coaching/mentoring sessions in Melbourne. 

Alex’s goal is to assist dedicated young people in achieving their football goals.

Max Spencer

Palm Beach Currumbin product and former Gold Coast Suns defender, Max Spencer is one of our newest coaches for the Melbourne region. 

After two years at the Suns, Max joined Werribee FC for 2019 and has already become a regular VFL team of the week member, continuing to impress with his uncanny ability to read the game. 

Max is the ideal coach for all budding defenders. Key skill development areas: decision making, composure under pressure, kicking and marking.

Jeff Andrews

Based in Essendon, Jeff loves to keep fit as a runner and participating in a few fun runs, he is basically a fan of all sports. 

Jeff has been coaching for 20+ years from local to State League level (including TAC, VFL and RDFL), he loves player development and the team dynamic side of the game. 

Jeff has worked with and developed over 20 AFL draftees - he certainly has insight into what it takes to become an AFL player.

Launceston, TAS



Oliver Cook

New Launceston based coach, Oliver Cook provides a wealth of knowledge when it comes to football development coaching, strength and conditioning and education. He has a high focus on game sense based training which he implements through a self-directed learning system.

 In the future, Oliver aims to build on his (very comprehensive) coaching repertoire in as many professional environments as possible. Over the next 12 months he would like to push hard to put himself in a position to be accepted into the AFL Level 3 High Performance Program.

Ulverstone, TAS



Jason Ling

Jason Ling joins One On One Football as our first coach in Ulverstone, Tasmania. Jason has played over 200 games across both local and state football (including two premierships with Burnie FC) as well as 30 VFL games for the Tasmanian Devils. 

Jason has experience in head coaching, development coaching as well as strength and conditioning. Having worked with North Melbourne’s next generation academy, AFL Tasmania Academy, Tasmanian Devils TAC Cup side and The Penguin FC (NTFL) Jason stands out as one of our most 'multi-skilled’ coaches.

Wes Glass

Bought up in South Australian playing football since he was 8, Wes has now been living in Port Douglas for the past 5 years. He played his junior football/senior football for South Adelaide in the SANFL & Willunga SA. Now Playing For Port Douglas. Wes has been playing top level Country football for 20 years, he enjoys football so much that he would love to play forever. 

Wes’ passion is teaching kids fundamental skills & anything to do with football.

Mathew Chave

Mathew is an extremely passionate football person with a proven ability to help others achieve their goals. He had cancer as an 18 year old which forced him to stop playing the game that he loves but coaching has given him an outlet to channel his passion and help him have a positive impact on others around him. 

He is young, bold and driven to succeed and be the best coach he can be for anyone who is willing to receive his help. Mathew believes in an equal player - coach relationship where the coach and player(s) are working together as a team to achieve the best outcome for the player(s). 

His strength is helping players master the fundamental skills of footy to positively impact games consistently.
